The Biosphere Certification

The Biosphere certification is an international recognition that endorses the commitment of companies, destinations, and organizations to sustainable and responsible tourism. Promoted by the Responsible Tourism Institute (ITR), this certification is based on the principles of sustainability established by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Biosphere takes a holistic approach, addressing environmental, social, cultural, and economic aspects to ensure that tourism activities benefit both local communities and travelers.

To achieve this certification, organizations must implement sustainable practices such as reducing resource consumption, promoting cultural and natural heritage, supporting local economies, and adopting inclusive and equitable policies. This commitment is regularly evaluated to ensure compliance with international sustainability standards.

Trinakria Tours and the Biosphere Certification

At Trinakria Tours, we are proud to announce that we have obtained the Biosphere certification. During 2024, we successfully completed 100% of the required steps, demonstrating our dedication to more responsible tourism that has a positive impact on the destinations we promote and the local communities we work with.

Our Future Sustainability Goals

Additionally, we are thrilled to set 2025 as the target year for implementing an innovative project that includes the design and construction of Mediterranean gardens. We will also offer our travelers the opportunity to purchase carbon credits through Carborea, allowing them to offset the CO₂ emissions generated by their trips, either partially or entirely.
