This question requires a meticulous answer, as it represents the essence of how we view tourism:
- The personal choice arises from our conviction that sharing our criteria and taste with customers goes beyond depending on comments and ‘stars’ online. That is why we do not collaborate with all the hotels in a region.
- Each hotel is run by people who understand hospitality personally. We strive to choose those with whom we share an elective affinity, thus guaranteeing an authentic and exceptional welcome.
- We consider staying in a hotel to be an experience in itself, not just a place to rest. We believe the best trips are built from the combination of a captivating destination, meaningful connections and the comfort and grace of a carefully selected hotel.
ARE YOU AN ONLINE AGENCY?
Yes, we are. Our work method is designed so all the travelers who contact us can receive detailed, easy-to-consult and clear information about the package we have prepared in comfort at their home. In addition, we are constantly improving to ensure that our service is more efficient, faster and more straightforward. We are a small Tour Operator, but our computer platform is very advanced.
DO YOU HAVE OFFICES?
Our offices are located in the heart of the old neighborhood in Barcelona. We share a co-working space with other tourism professionals. Generally, we make the first contact via e-mail or telephone, but as soon as we clearly define the type of tour you want, if you prefer, we will be happy to arrange a personal interview in our offices over a cup of coffee to get to know each other and talk about the tour. Otherwise, if you are not in Barcelona or prefer to do everything via e-mail or phone, our system is agile, fast and practical.
WHAT GUARANTEES DO I HAVE THAT YOU ARE A RELIABLE TOUR OPERATOR?
The first and most important assurance you should count on is your own instinct. After contacting us and receiving the first travel proposal via e-mail, you will be able to get your own idea about us. Our legal information: Trinakria Tours, SL registered in the Mercantile Registry of Barcelona, Volume 39243, Folio 0106, Sheet/Dup 342825. The title-license granted by the Government of Catalonia under our request is GC-1441.

WHAT DO YOUR PACKAGES INCLUDE?
Our tours normally include accommodation, breakfast and a rental car with comprehensive insurance against damage and theft. The packages also include a dossier of the chosen destination with many tips on places to visit and see, special beaches or where to eat off the beaten path. VAT, taxes and our administration fees (approximately €30 per person) are also always included in our packages.
We can also include optional activities through our network of collaborators in our destinations, such as excursions, wine tasting or a cooking course.
HOW ARE YOUR TOURS BOOKED AND WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT CONDITIONS?
Once the trip has been requested by completing the contact form, we verify the availability of the accommodation and send an initial trip proposal by e-mail. We then spend a few days refining our proposal to adapt to your wishes. If you decide to go ahead with the reservations, we will send the link to the reservation data form and formal acceptance of the contract conditions by e-mail. Once we receive the green light from you, we will proceed with the reservations of the services and send you the invoice and the agency’s account number so you can make the booking deposit of 30%. The remaining 70% is paid 45 days before departure. Once booking is complete and the entire payment has been made, we send you all the travel documents and vouchers. You will have to print these and take them with you. If any of the prearranged accommodations are not available before you complete the payment for your trip, we will notify you and propose an alternative in the same area. If you accept our new suggestion, we will proceed with the standard reservation process as explained above.
ARE YOUR DEPARTURES ONLY ON PRE-SET DATES?
NO, our tours are organized from February to November, tailored to your needs on any date and for the number of days you want. We always recommend a minimum of 10 nights for our destinations, but this is not mandatory. If you can only spend a week, we will make sure to design the best tour for that number of days.
WHAT IS THE BEST SEASON TO VISIT YOUR DESTINATIONS?
Spring is ideal for Mediterranean destinations and April, May and June are by far the best months of the year to travel. Good weather, long days, blooming vegetation, what more can you ask for? September and October are also phenomenal months and should not be dismissed. July is undoubtedly preferable to August, the only month of the year when we do not advise you to travel. Nonetheless, if we are given 3 months notice in advance, we can also organize a trip in August. This is basically because this is when the sites to visit are the most crowded and if something goes wrong it is more difficult to find a solution. In any case, the care we take in organizing our trips is the key to success, regardless of the month of the year.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
There is a penalty of 5% of the total trip if it is cancelled more than 10 days before departure, 15% between 10 and 3 days before departure and 25% in the 48 hours prior to departure. If a customer does not show up at departure, the cancellation fee is 100%. Cancellation conditions for each accommodation may also apply, as well as the administrative expenses that we retain (approx. €25 per person). Although these are the agency’s baseline conditions, many of our packages include the possibility of contracting cancellation insurance or a flexible rate. Moreover, if the trip you contract does not include these and you have to cancel for any reason, before proceeding to apply the penalties we try to study a good solution for everyone, such as the option of postponing the trip for another time.
WHAT TYPE OF ACCOMMODATIONS DO YOU WORK WITH?
Small hotels, Boutique hotels, B&B and Agrotourism lodging. All our accommodations have been personally selected by our team and included in our catalog. These strategically located places, with a good family atmosphere and charm, make our tours that much more special and attractive. Although we use the same criteria to select each type of accommodation, the price will vary according to their degree of luxury as is to be expected. Breakfast is always included and all rooms have a private bathroom.
WHAT IS THE STANDARD FOR ROOMS IN THE ACCOMMODATIONS?
This depends a lot on the type of accommodation; however, they all feature charming locations, genial hospitality and full breakfast meals to start you off energetically for your sightseeing adventures each day. All the rooms have a private bathroom.
DO YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDE HOTELS ON THE BEACH?
Yes, there are some. However, most of our accommodations are not located on the beach, since we always tend to favor rural or urban accommodations. They are all in easy reach to visit the most interesting sites in their surroundings and nearly all are less than 30 km from the nearest coast.
I AM A CELIAC. DO I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HAVING BREAKFAST IN YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS?
NO, simply let us know during the booking phase so we can communicate it to the owners of each accommodation and ensure that they prepare something suitable for you.
DO YOU PROVIDE TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Yes, of course. At your request, we can include cancellation and/or medical insurance. We work with AXA insurance products because we believe that they are flexible, satisfy the required insurance conditions and offer reasonable prices, However, if you are interested in these products, it is important that you read the conditions we send you because, as with any insurance, there are exceptions that are not covered.
ARE FLIGHTS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
NO, we do not include flights because the numerous low-cost offers to all our destinations make it more cost-effective to purchase them directly online. However, if you have not yet purchased the flights when you contact us, we will send you the best flight combination we can find together with the tour budget, which you can purchase if you wish.
WHICH CAR RENTAL COMPANY DO YOU WORK WITH?
In Italy, we have a preferential contract with the AVIS BUDGET MAGGIORE group.
In other Mediterranean destinations such as Greece or Albania, we use the services of a broker: FLEXIBLE CARS that rent with various providers.
WHAT INSURANCE ITEMS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE RENTAL CAR?
We work exclusively with high-quality rentals and always include comprehensive insurance to eliminate the excess for damages and theft. Please note, however, that this does not mean that everything is always included since comprehensive risk insurance also has exceptions. The companies we work with will also charge for: administrative expenses (approx. 38 EUR), damages caused voluntarily and by negligent driving e.g., going in the wrong direction of travel) or driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, damage to wheels, rims, undercarriage, damage caused to the clutch (misuse or burns) and the vehicle interior. We find all these items reasonable since they imply misuse of the car. All other circumstances are included. In destinations where comprehensive insurance is not available, we contract a deductible reimbursement insurance. This means that although you have a deductible limit contracted with the rental company, if they charge you for any damage upon your return, we will reimburse you.
WHAT OTHER ITEMS ARE INCLUDED IN THE CAR RENTAL?
It always includes unlimited km, two drivers (except in Crete where you have to pay for the second driver), ONE WAY (that is, picking up and returning the car at two different points, such as two airports, at no extra charge. Payment service only in Crete, Peloponnese and Albania), CLI (civil liability insurance) and passenger insurance. Airport taxes and local and national VAT are also included in all cases. As regards extras such as car seats or GPS, we can reserve these for you, but you will have to pay for them directly at the destination when you pick up the car.
WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY RENTED THE CAR ON MY OWN?
Nothing, in this case all we do is organize the route for your accommodations. Bear in mind though that our rentals are high quality and include comprehensive insurance against damage and theft.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO RENT ONLY THE CAR WITH YOU?
If all you want is to rent a car with us, this does not pose any problem, although we recommend booking an entire tour since these are our main products.
WHAT CONDITIONS APPLY IF I PICK UP/RETURN THE CAR EARLY OR LATE?
For returns outside office hours, the keys will have to be left in the rental company’s car park mailbox. The conditions for pick-ups outside office hours will depend on the pick-up time: if it is very early you will have to wait until the office opens, if it is very late, the office staff will wait for you until 2:00 a.m. early morning (this involves an extra charge of approximately €25). After 2:00 a.m., the car will have to be picked up the next morning. Please note that during the booking phase we will always inform you of any exceptional circumstances caused by your flight times.
DO YOU ORGANIZE TAILOR-MADE TOURS FOR GROUPS?
If you are a family or group of friends of a maximum of 20–25 people and you are available to drive the cars yourself, we will be happy to tailor a personalized tour for you. All we ask is that the tour be booked well in advance so we can prepare everything in detail. If what you have in mind is a group that requires other types of services (drivers, traditional hotels, guides, etc.), feel free to e-mail us or call, since we only work with these types of groups on occasion.
SHOULD I PURCHASE THE FLIGHTS BEFORE CONTACTING YOU?
If you wish, you can buy your airline tickets before you contact us so we can organize the tour for you, but it is always better to contact us before doing anything else, so we can plan the best route and the best possible flight together. Although we DO NOT process flights, we always advise on the best possible combination and the fastest way to arrive at your destination.
ARE THE TAILOR-MADE TOURS YOU OFFER STANDARD?
Some examples of the personalized tours that we can organize can be found on our website. Once we receive initial information from you, such as travel dates, entry/exit airports and a description of the type of trip you want, we start preparing a completely tailored proposal combining the various accommodations in our catalog. Our tours are divided into ‘at your own pace‘, ‘rural‘ and ‘charming‘. The overall price of the tour will be the result of the prices of each accommodation, the rental car, our services, and all taxes and VAT.
WHEN IS IT CONVENIENT TO BOOK?
Since our accommodations are small and fill up very easily, booking for the high season (July and August) are generally processed until May. After May and depending on availability, we may be able to offer you a tour that is aligned with your expectations and that can adapt to your needs, so that you can sleep wherever you want, at any time (sleeping, for example, one night in the south, then another in the north and then returning to the south again). The charm of our trips would be lost and the quality of the tour would drop. In general, the sooner you reserve, the more chances we have of being able to offer a good product.
WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I RECEIVE FOR THE TAILOR-MADE TOUR?
A few days after we receive confirmation from our bank of payment for the package, we will send you all the travel documents by e-mail. These consist of a voucher or prepaid voucher for each contracted service (accommodations and car) and a list of suggestions and recommendations that we renew each year as we discover new and interesting things about our destinations for our travelers. These documents include all the important information you need for each contracted service. All you need to do is print it and take it with you during the trip.
DO YOU RENT CARS WITH A DRIVER?
We do not offer this service at this time. Our rentals are cars or vans with 9 seats (which to not require a special driving license) to be driven by you.
CAN YOU ORGANIZE THE REST OF THE DAYS OF MY TOUR IF I ALREADY HAVE ONE NIGHT BOOKED?
Yes, we tailor all our tours to your needs.
APART FROM THE DESTINATIONS ON YOUR WEBSITE, DO YOU ORGANIZE OTHER TYPES OF TOURS?
Our work method (personally visiting all the accommodations before offering them, coming to a comprehensive understanding of the destination, etc.) does not allow us to work throughout the Mediterranean. At the moment we organize trips to Sicily, Sardinia, Puglia, Tuscany, Peloponnese, Athens and mainland Greece, as well as the island of Crete. CAN I CALL FOR INFORMATION?
Of course! Although we always send proposals by e-mail, phone calls are the most practical way to clear up doubts before starting our reservation process.

DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD?

ARE THERE ANY DANGERS TO BE AWARE OF AT YOUR DESTINATIONS?
The Mediterranean is a chaotic, noisy place and may seem dangerous in areas like marketplaces in large cities. However, our destinations boast a friendly and helpful population who live mostly in towns, rural villages and countryside accommodations, so security and tranquility are assured. The measures you should take for your personal safety are the same as for any trip or destination. The larger the population center, the more careful you should be, especially in the most touristy places. Other than that, feel free to relax and enjoy your time.
